Identify. Clean. Eradicate.
The Case-Bearing Clothes Moth and the Common Clothes Moth are the two most common clothes moths in the UK.
The Case-Bearing Clothes Moth is identified by its pale silver and brown colours, whereas the Common Clothes Moth has a golden reddish colouring.
Moth Larvae of both types can be identified by their cream coloured bodies and may grow up to 1/2inch in length. Discarded cocoons the size and shape of rice grains may also be found. Case-Bearing Larvae build casings of fibres to protect their bodies as they search for food.
Once you’ve confirmed the presence of Clothes Moths, It’s time to wash and vacuum.
Wash clothes and soft furnishings and vacuum the infested area to remove larvae, eggs, cocoons and discarded casings.
Overfilled wardrobes make it easier for Moths and Larvae to hide. Keep them clear!
